About Us

عن الجمعية

A women-led cultural and civic association founded in Damascus in 2016. We connect art with citizenship and human rights, believing that culture can rebuild trust and solidarity in post-conflict societies.

Mission

We connect art with citizenship and human rights — culture rebuilding trust in post-conflict societies.

Tanaghom Gardenia began as Gardenia Women Choir, founded in Damascus in 2016 in the midst of the Syrian conflict, as a response to the growing silencing of women's voices. The founders — artists, musicians, and human rights advocates — believed that choral singing could become a peaceful, inclusive form of resistance and healing.

We use collective singing and artistic collaboration as tools for dialogue, advocacy, and women's empowerment. Our strategy integrates three pillars: artistic creation that amplifies women's voices and shared values; cultural participation that builds community connection and social cohesion; and civic engagement through partnerships and public dialogue around justice, equality, and freedom of expression.
